Ok, so before I get into today's fascinating topic of hypocrisy, just wanted to give a quick update on the preparations for the Bolder Boulder. I started back into my running program last night (had to take a couple months off due to the massive amounts of snow accumulated all over the roads!) and was very humbled by the experience. Yes, I have a long way to go to get up to 10k shape!

Day 1:
Total Distance - 2 miles
Total Distance Ran - 1 mile

Ok, enough of that. I will try and throw up (eww) an update after each night of running all the way til the run which is on Memorial Day weekend.

On to the topic de jour. (Yes that is French for all you haters out there!) Hypocrisy. We all know the meaning of the word and I am sure we all witness it on a daily basis. Heck, some of us might even have a hypocritical moment ourselves every now and then. *gasp* But when the hypocrisy reaches such levels of preponderance as is on display by our friends on the 'Right' lately, well then, it just needs to be called out.

  • Example #1:
Critizing the President in a time of war is "aiding and abetting" the enemy... here UNLESS, you are critizing a Democrat President. here
  • Example #2:
Screaming "Up or Down Vote" and threatening the "Nuclear Option" is ok... here UNLESS, you know the outcome won't favor your side. here
  • Example #3:
This special prosecutor's case against Libby is a "farce" and doesn't deserve much media attention... here THIS special prosecutor's case against Clinton is the defining moment in America's moral history and demands 24/7 coverage. here
  • Example #4:
The America destroying "activist judge" title... here DOESN'T apply when the activism favors your politics. here
  • Example #5:
Billionaire Richard Mellon Scaife good... here Billionaire George Soros bad? here

Of course one could go on and on. Why should actors Sean Penn or Tim Robbins not speak their political minds, but actors Ronald Reagan and Arnold should be taken seriously as elected officials? Dixie Chicks v. Toby Keith anyone? Are those people on the right the only ones every exhibiting any hypocrisy? Are there no examples of hypocrisy on the left? No, I am not saying that at all. I just think the level on the right is much more profound. And really, when you set yourselves up as the party of morality, the party of all that is good and humble and right, the party that separates themselves from the evils of the left, then you set yourselves up for a bigger fall from grace when you exhibit such hypocrisy. Just my opinion, take it or leave it.

Thanks for reading...

Just wanted you to know I am really enjoying your blog. I love getting some thought provoking ideas on politics but I am most excited to see that you are preparing for the Boulder Boulder. I am really trying to push myself to start running. I would love to be in shape by spring when the 5k-10k season begins. Running is something I have always wanted to get into. Keep up the good work and keep me updated. Perhaps it will get me motivated a little.
