Sen. Obama has finally, and officially* done it. He has become the Democratic Party's nominee for President in 2008. I couldn't be happier for him, his family, the party, and all of America. It has been said all over the place, but it bears repeating, this truly is an historic day for our country. For a country with a shameful past in the way it has treated those with different color skin to be one step away from electing our first non-white leader is remarkable.

Now the fun begins! The attacks from Sen. McCain and the right wing media (Fox News, Rush, Hannity, O'Reilly, The New York Post, The Washington Times, The Weekly Standard, to name a few). The Sen. Clinton campaign death watch (really, why could she have not taken the high road last night and conceded the race??). And, finally, a long summer filled with amazing, uplifting, powerful speeches delivered by (hopefully) the 44th President of the United States. I am looking forward to it all!

*Nothing is official until the first vote is taken and counted at the Democratic Convention is August.
