Some of you may remember one of my previous posts in which I talked about the current danger of extinction facing the writ of Habeas Corpus. Well I am happy to report today that Rep. Jane Harman (D-CA) and Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) have taken up the fight and are introducing a bill that would reverse the damage done.(link) Kudos to them!

While it is a sad commentary on our current political state of affairs that a bill like this would even have to be considered, it is at the same time very encouraging and exemplary of the power we do still retain in this country as a voting citizenry. The election results this past November sent a clear message from us that we are fed up with the unconstitutional acts of this administration. With the introduction of this bill today and with many more to come, the Democrats we elected into the majority are giving power to our voices. Let's make sure they keep it up!
