Happy Monday everyone! So how was all of YOUR weekends? Mine was pretty good. It was, well, it was a nice potpourri of things to discuss. *grin*

First off, I must say that it is invigorating to the soul to be around like-minded, action oriented and politically motivated people. As you all well know, I am big into politics. As you may also know, I am big into Barack Obama. With that in mind, I headed off to my first (of what I hope ends up being many) local Barack meet-ups. This one was held conveniently enough in the same UU church where my wife and I have started attending. It was a nice opportunity to meet some fellow Obama Backers and bounce ideas off of each other for ways to take action moving forward. As much as I love 'discussing' (see: arguing) with people of differing political backgrounds, it was wonderful to be around people who 'get it' the same way I do. If you get the chance, and you are at all political, you should check out a local group supporting the candidate of your choice.

Moving on from that to a different flavor of potpourri, I watched an interesting documentary last night on the Discovery channel, The Lost Tomb of Jesus. While I am not the most religious person in the world, I am continually intrigued by the life of Jesus in a historical sense. Do yourself a favor and check out this documentary if they happen to air it again. While it may turn out to not be the tomb of Jesus, they do make a quite compelling case that it is!

The last little bit of potpourri? Why not throw in a little stink weed. Yes, I am talking about Ann Coulter. While I usually keep her and her ilk out of my periphery, sometimes she says something that is so over the line and horrendous that it bears addressing. I know that is why she says these things (publicity = book sales) and I know that I am falling into her trap and if it were as simple as that I would let it go. But unfortunately I am not the only one who falls into her trap. For some reason, she is allowed to make these disgusting comments over and over and over again, yet still be invited back to CNN or MSNBC and of course Fox as some sort of political expert (?) who's opinion should be listened to and taken seriously.

Her latest comment that is over the line and yet won't be dealt with as it should by shunning her from our airwaves?
"Oh, and I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate, John Edwards. But it turns out that you have to go into rehab if you use the word "faggot," so I'm -- so I'm kind of at an impasse, can't really talk about Edwards. So I think I'll just conclude here and take your questions."

Of course she has since 'apologized'.
"C’mon, it was a joke. I would never insult gays by suggesting that they are like John Edwards. That would be mean."

Truly disgusting. Thanks for reading...
