My oh my! The fun and amusing world of political news (fun for me at least) just does not let up! Again, as I mentioned in an earlier blog, this pace makes it increasingly hard to keep up and keep focused! I really do want to get back into the Gonzales 8 thing (now is a convenient time to break as nothing new will be going on for another week). I want to break down why each of the three leading Repubs vying for the Presidency in '08 do not deserve any one's vote, but I am sure there will be plenty of time for that in the next year and a half. So, yet again, what to do. How about I just throw a bunch of crap against the wall today and see what sticks? Sound good?

First off, some exciting and breaking news to report! I am an Obama Backer to the end, so I was happy to learn (finally!) today his fund raising numbers for the first quarter of this year. For those of you who do not know; due to the sad state of our political process at the moment, the best way to tell a candidate's success in the campaign is through how much money they can raise. Hillary announced on Monday her record breaking take of $26 million. All of the other candidates announced on that day as well (big shock was Mitt Romney), with the notable exception of Barack. Well, he finally announced today that he brought in $25 million, right on track with Hillary. The bigger story here are the numbers behind the numbers. Barack was able to get his money from over a 100,000 donors, 50,000 of those coming from online, whereas Hillary's money came from half that amount. What that shows is twofold; Barack message is connecting with more people, and the donors he has are not as tapped out as Hillary's (an individual can only donate $4,600 by law). I have nothing against Hillary per se, and if she is the candidate coming out of the primary election, I will get behind her. I would just LOVE to see a bigger change in Washington than she can provide.

So this thing with Rep. Pelosi that the 'right' is ranting about, I know I probably don't need to say this anymore, but it is hypocritical, factually inaccurate, and just downright mean. What she is doing is taking the grown-up approach to diplomacy and talking (gasp!) with the President of Syria about ways in which we can solve this mess in Iraq that Bush has created. What the 'right' is accusing her of is tantamount to a treasonous act. What the 'right' won't tell you is that; A) the bipartisan Iraq Study Group included in their list of recommendations, "..direct US dialogue with Syria..", B) a Repub delegation is currently visiting Syria as well, and C) Syria is ready and willing to start this dialogue. No, the 'right' would much rather sink it's teeth into this "San Francisco Liberal" as a way to stir up the emotions of it's sheepish flock than to speak the truth.

Here is an interesting story that will not be reported on anywhere. It seems as though the US has decided to advise, encourage, and possibly fund a militant group (see: terrorists) from Pakistan (with ties to the Taliban no less) who's mission it is to cross the border into Iran, kidnap some soldiers and officials, and bring them back to Pakistan so they can be executed on film. Of course our involvement with this is all under the table so as not to draw any congressional oversight. This goes along with our other similar activities in the recent past such as; the funding of the Taliban to fight the Russians, the funding of Sadam and Iraq to fight the Iranians, the funding of the guerrilla fighters in Nicaragua resulting in the Iran-Contra affair, and on and on. When will they learn that this tactic never works out well in the end? And when will we all learn to make them stop? This latest activity in Iran goes along with our own kidnapping of Iranian officials (which resulting in the British sailors being kidnapped) in order to goad them into a war with us. Let's hope for all of our sakes they are unsuccessful this time around.

OK, so what is left sticking on the wall? Eww, I think, in fact, it all is. Great, now I have to clean that mess up. Til tomorrow.

Thanks for reading...
